Since 2002, we have been helping Swisscom AG establish and further develop precisely this foundation.

Our Services

• Data Warehouse Architecture: We continued to develop the Oracle-based data warehouse MOSAIC and, together with NEMO, designed its Teradata-based successor (2002–2007).
• Data Analysis: We designed and implemented SPARGEL to analyze and identify potential cost savings for customers (since 2007).
• Data Warehouse: We support numerous projects related to the Swisscom Data Warehouse (SDW) (since 2008).
• Campaign Management: We advise Swisscom and implement solutions for data selection and process automation (since 2010).
• Metadata Management: We set up Lighthouse and ensure the system’s operation (since 2014).
• DWH Migration: We are migrating the ENT DWH from Microsoft SQL Server to Teradata (2020–2023).

In short: We create the technical foundation that enables Swisscom AG to use data efficiently, target customers more effectively, and reliably advance analytical processes. Drawing on our many years of experience, we navigate the evolving data landscape and support our clients in meeting new requirements.

Implementation and Production Support with Rockwell Automation’s Pharma Suite

The implementation of a new MES system was intended to put production at Roche on a new technological footing. At the same time, ongoing sterile production operations had to be maintained. In addition to the transition to the Pharma Suite, it was therefore necessary to familiarize employees with the new system and provide reliable support for production during the transition phase.

Syncwork supported the implementation of Rockwell Automation’sPharma Suite from the preparation phase through the hypercare phase following go-live. In doing so, we supported both existing production using the previous MES system, PMX, and the transition to the new system.

Our Services:

• Supporting the MES implementation: We supported the implementation of Rockwell Automation’s Pharma Suite and the preparation for go-live.
• Ensuring production continuity: We supported production and visual inspection within the existing PMX MES system and assisted with recipe execution prior to go-live.
• Training employees: We trained key users and operators on how to use the new Pharma Suite.
• Ensuring a successful go-live: During the hypercare phase, we supported production teams on both day and night shifts with error analysis, troubleshooting, and tracking.
• On-site support: We supported production directly on the four lines in the sterile area: filling (AFL), pre-filled syringes (FSP), freeze dryers (GEF), and solution production (LOE).

The Pharma Suite was successfully integrated into ongoing production operations—with stable operation continuing beyond the go-live.

When the timber market fluctuates, it helps to look ahead: AI-powered market simulation for the Bavarian State Forests

Wood is a highly sought-after raw material. However, its prices fluctuate, and the market is complex. It is therefore important for the Bavarian State Forests to identify trends early on so they can plan logging and sales volumes proactively.

Syncwork developed and tested an AI prototype in Azure that forecasts timber market prices and supports the Bavarian State Forests (BaySF) in forward-looking planning:

Our Services:

• Understanding requirements: We analyzed requirements and conducted workshops with subject matter experts.
• Preparing data: We researched, verified, and integrated data via Azure Blob Storage and Data Factory.
• Developing models: We tested linear models, Prophet, and other forecasting approaches for various regions and timber categories.
• Evaluating and visualizing results: We validated forecasts using time series split cross-validation, evaluated them based on trend accuracy and RMSE, and visualized actual and forecast data in Power BI.
• Unlocking potential and sharing knowledge: We identified additional use cases, such as bark beetle forecasts, addressed cloud security, and trained BaySF on how to use the models.
• Agile project management: We planned, managed, and documented the project using Scrum, Extreme Programming, and Rapid Development, and coordinated with subject matter and technical teams as well as decision-making bodies.

The Bavarian State Forests can now better assess price trends and fluctuations in the timber market and use this information to determine the scope of logging operations and potential sales volumes. This supports forward-looking planning in sales. The model is already in use there.

Transfer Data Automatically Instead of Manually

Previously, employees had to manually transferdata between the iTWO and consinexVMSapplications . This was time-consuming, tied up resources, and carried the risk of data transfer errors.

Using Robotic Process Automation (RPA), we have automated this process. Today, a software robot reliably handles the recurring transfer steps according to clearly defined rules. This speeds up the process, reduces the workload on employees, and simultaneously improves data quality.

To ensure that the solution not only works technically but also runs reliably in day-to-day operations, we supported the project from the initial process analysis through to subsequent operation.

Our Services:

• We jointly analyzed the existing process and defined how it should be automated in the future. In doing so, we also defined business rules, roles, and permissions.
• We set up the RPA infrastructure at LBM and provided consulting on the technical implementation, includingUi , UiPath Orchestrator, Unattended Bots, and Studio.
• We implementedthe business requirements in UiPath 2019.10, customized the solution, and set up a local GitHub repository.
• We thoroughly tested the RPA solution and managed the testing process.
• We created an easy-to-understand online training course for users, including a training video.
• For IT administrators, we created training materials and an operations manual.
• We trained the administrators in a two-day training session and trained the users on how to use the new solution.

Greater Transparency for Digital Government.

A modern government needs a clear overview of its data. Only when information is accessible, understandable, and its responsibilities are transparent can it be used effectively and well-informed decisions be made. We supported the FTA in testing a central data catalog using DataHub, thereby laying an important foundation for the digital advancement of its data landscape.

• Proof of Concept: We design and implement a proof of concept for a centralized, agency-wide data catalog.
• DataHub: We implement the open-source solution DataHub and install and configure the platform in the federal government’s Kubernetes environment.
• Data Integration: We integrate various data sources and technologies, including Oracle, Teradata, SAP, and PostgreSQL.
• System and User Administration: We set up system and user administration and configure the corresponding functions.
• Governance and Operations: We provide consulting on governance, operations, and integration concepts for use in the federal infrastructure.
• Knowledge Transfer: We support the project teams during the evaluation phase and share our expertise regarding the data catalog.

The successful proof of concept enabled the FTA to assess how a central data catalog could be integrated into the federal government’s existing infrastructure. The solution provides greater transparency regarding data assets and responsibilities and makes it easier to find and use existing information. In this way, we support the FTA in systematically cataloging its data and creating a solid foundation for future data governance and data management initiatives.

Rethinking Business Processes, Integrating Systems

When development, production, procurement, and controlling operate using different systems and processes, collaboration quickly becomes complex. The Stadler Group wanted to standardize its business processes, better integrate workflows, and create an integrated IT landscape. To achieve this, SAP S/4HANA and Siemens Teamcenter were to replace the existing systems and consolidate the core processes for new rail vehicle construction and maintenance.

At the same time, it was necessary to reconcile the requirements of numerous departments, establish new processes, and reliably address certification-related requirements.

Syncwork supported Stadler from the preparation phase through the implementation of the new process and system landscape. We combined business and technical perspectives, supported the design of standardized business processes, and coordinated collaboration between functional departments, project teams, and management.

• Designing processes: We analyzed best-practice processes, prepared workshops, and supported the design of standardized business processes.
• Managing Projects: We took on project management and PMO responsibilities with a focus on system integration and supported the implementation of SAP S/4HANA and Teamcenter.

• Integrating data and systems: We supported data migration, testing, and acceptance, as well as the implementation of the SAP Business Partner and cross-system data reconciliation.
• Establishing processes: We supported the rollout of the purchase-to-pay process, trained business units, and supported the implementation of a new supplier portal.
• Collaborating Agilely: We established agile working methods, supported product owners and teams, and facilitated stakeholder management as well as collaboration between teams and management.

Stadler received support in more closely integrating business processes and IT systems and in fostering collaboration across departmental boundaries. The new processes create a common foundation for working with SAP S/4HANA and Teamcenter—from procurement to the handling of supplier documents and certification-related evidence.
